At The Game Awards, CD Projekt Red premiered the first trailer for "The Witcher 4," introducing Ciri, the princess of Cintra, as the main character. This installment marks a significant shift from the original trilogy's focus on Geralt of Rivia.
The six-minute cinematic trailer showcases Ciri navigating a dark forest and confronting a formidable, long-legged spider-like creature, highlighting her combat prowess and magical abilities. This narrative direction explores her journey as a Witcher, addressing fan speculations from "The Witcher 3."
Development of "The Witcher 4," codenamed "Polaris," began in 2022. It is set to launch a new trilogy within the franchise, with CD Projekt Red also working on additional titles, including projects codenamed "Sirius" and "Canis Majoris," developed by The Molasses Flood and Fool's Theory, respectively.
The game is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, aiming to deliver enhanced graphics and immersive gameplay. While a release date has not been announced, the detailed trailer suggests that the game may launch sooner than anticipated.
