Pokémon Sandwich Maker: A Nostalgic Kitchen Gadget
I’m a sucker for trying random Amazon gadgets — like, it’s a monthly (okay, weekly) ritual. But what do I love more than aimless gadget hunting? Pokémon, of course. I’ve been playing since Gen 1, and back then my biggest gripe was not being able to see my Game Boy Color screen at night in my parents’ car’s backseat while driving at night.
Growing up kind of sucks, right? But for some of us, that inner child refuses to quit even as we inch toward 36. Which explains why my neighbors probably heard me screaming when a Facebook ad showed me this adorable Pokémon Sandwich Maker.

It’s available only on Amazon Japan, but don’t worry — they ship to the U.S. I’ve dropped links at the end of this post if you want to check them out. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the bright yellow color.
If there’s any color that shouts “Pokémon,” it’s yellow. And we all know why: Pikachu. Our grandma knows Pikachu. Putin knows Pikachu. Our pets know Pikachu. You get the point.
The sandwich maker has a cheerful, unmistakable hue that practically screams “This belongs in a Pokémon Trainer’s kitchen!” even if it didn’t feature any Pokémon designs.

Inside, you’ll find two trays you can remove and wash, each emblazoned with the iconic Gen 1 starters: Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Pikachu. That means you can toast two sandwiches simultaneously, or you can swap in extra trays to make little pancakes.
These characters are printed crisply on your food — unlike those devices where it’s impossible to tell if you’re looking at a flower or a distorted cartoon face.

I actually made an unboxing video to show it off in action, though I stuck to sandwiches rather than pancakes. One minor hiccup: The standard bread slices in Japan tend to be bent on top, so my sandwiches come out a bit misshapen. Nothing a hungry trainer can’t handle, though.
If you’re on the hunt for a perfect gift for the kids — or just want a nostalgia fix for yourself — I definitely recommend this sandwich maker. I’ve included links below so you can snag one. There are also some alternatives on Amazon US with strong reviews, though I’m still partial to my bright yellow one. Nothing beats the power of that Pikachu vibe!
Here’s a parting thought: Even if adulting robs us of time for gaming marathons, something as simple as a Pokémon-themed sandwich can reignite that childhood spark. Every toast-pressed Charmander or Bulbasaur face can be a tiny reminder of why we fell in love with Pokémon in the first place. Because who says you can’t combine a grown-up kitchen gadget with a kid’s sense of wonder?
